Page and Plant On The Same Bill

Page/Plant: US TV Good Rockin' Tonight Appearance

Last night PBS TV in the US aired the American Masters special "Good Rockin' Tonight: The Legacy of Sun Records". It included some Page/Plant clips. There is additional Page/Plant footage not shown on the special but available on their website.

Those that saw the Sun Records special reported that "the duo looked good singing "There's a Hole in my Bucket - Plant was wearing shorts, sneakers, no socks and a frumpy T-shirt(!!). Plant looked like he was more prepared for yard work then in to record a song but he sounded very good. Page also looked good; marrying someone half his age has worked wonders(!!). His playing was really superb! It all sounded terrific. The song sounds good; they have a three man back-up vocal trio and overall it was terrific!!". There was also a short interview with Plant doing most of the talking.

LED BIZKIT?

Jimmy Page lent a hand at the MTV-Europe adwards at Frankfurt Festhalle last night. Dressed in black and strumming a double-necked acoustic, Jimmy accompanied Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit and Wes Scantlin from the group Puddle Of Mudd in a version of Thank You.
The song began with the two members singing the first version and refrain, at which point Mr Page was announced and was seen strolling in from the back of the stage. A little chaotic at first (monitor problems?), the threesome completed an acoustic version to much applause. Pagey looked well and was confident enough to attempt a few "twiddly bits".

A new letter on John Paul Jones' official website basically saying that his new album The Thunderthief will be out some time in January 2002 and a tour after that and maybe a surprise US tour before that. Terl and Nick appear on the album as well as guest appearances by Robert Fripp and Adam Bomb (from Get Animal).

Delays for JPJ & Deborah Bonham

John Paul Jones' 2nd Solo Album will not be released until the beginning of the next year due to production delays.

Also, Late and legendary Led Zeppelin John Bonham's younger sister Deborah (known in previous records as Debbie) will shortly release her new album, The Old Hyde, for NMC Music. The title track is an emotional ballad about her brother and the album, produced by Mo Foster, has guest appearances by Robert Plant, Mick Fleetwood, John's son Jason (who recently toured the US with Deborah) and Robbie McIntosh. Sun Records Tribute & Documentary

ABC Trust - UK Appeal

Jimmy Page and his wife Jimena formally launched the UK appeal in London on Monday night for the ABC Trust. Jimmy first said a few words to introduce his wife Jimena, who is Brazilian. She said that she was not used to speaking in public, but she spoke eloquently and passionately about this cause. For those not aware the ABC Trust is trying to help the millions of desperately poor children who have to live on the streets in Brazil's cities. When she told us that children as young as six were dragged into prostitution and drug abuse, it was an horrific moment for all present. The Brazilian Ambassador His Excellency Sergio Silva do Amaral also spoke about the terrible conditions that exist in Brazil.

Plant To Perform In Russia

Robert Plant was interviewed by Russian television this past week and said he's looking forward to an upcoming concert in St. Petersburg. Plant also commented that he currently performs for his own enjoyment. The Russian show is scheduled for the Oktyabrsky Concert Hall, St Petersburg, Russia on July, 15th. Tickets are on currently sale, priced from 10 to 170 USD (300 - 5000 russian rubles).

2nd Leg of Tour On Hold

Robert Plant and Strange Sensation's second leg of "West Coast" tour dates are now on hold. He apparently will NOT be appearing at the Seattle WOMAD festival announced last week. Dates in the U.S. and Canada (running May 25 to June 6) are unaffected and will go ahead as scheduled.

Robert Plant Bring Strange Sensations To States

Rock fans who have been jonesing for some Led Zeppelin since guitarist Jimmy Page's back problems forced him and the Black Crowes off the road last summer can get their fix this spring.
Legendary Zeppelin singer Robert Plant will bring his new outfit, the Strange Sensations, to the Northeast and Midwest for a handful of performances in May and June. The band includes bassist Charlie Jones (Plant's son-in-law and longtime sideman) and ex-Cure guitarist Porl Thompson.
While the Page-Crowes shows favored arenas and outdoor amphitheaters, the Strange Sensations will opt for smaller spaces. Plant and the gang will play rooms with capacities of 2,000 to 4,000 during their seven North American appearances, beginning May 25 at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston.
The shows will mix Zeppelin material and Plant originals, according to the tour's promoter.
No word yet on whether the Sensations will go into the studio, so those in search of new Plant recordings will have to settle for "When You're Falling," a track on Afro-Celt Sound System's Volume 3: Further in Time, due on Peter Gabriel's Real World label in early June.
