Jimmy Page Presents Guitar To Riffathon Winner
According to, the Hammersmith Palais rocked on Sunday night (July 24) with ten absolutely awesome performances of an extraordinary level of guitar playing for the Riffathon charity guitar competition final. Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) and Brian May (Queen) were judging the show, along with Dan Hawkins from The Darkness. They were all blown away by the high standard, and the decision to find a winner was proven extremely difficult. Martin Tomkins from Kettering stole the show and first prize with his awe-inspiring performance of Led Zeppelin's Rock And Roll. He couldn't get the grin off his face all night - especially after being presented a 1957 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top, which he called a "dream guitar," by Jimmy Page, who introduced the winner as "this guy without doubt played it ('Rock n' Roll') better than I have done."
