Music Student Wins Jimmy Page Guitar
A music student from Haslemere has beaten thousands of others to win a guitar signed by rock legend Jimmy Page.

Thomas McCluskey, 17, who studies at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in Guildford, won the instrument in a competition at GuilFest 2008.

He was presented with a Gibson Les Paul guitar at the University of Surrey after being picked ahead of 1,400 other entrants.

Thomas said he was delighted to have won the coveted prize.

"As I am studying music and guitar at the ACM, it is an awesome prize and I will treasure it forever," he said.

"It's my 18th [birthday] at the end of the month so it feels like I will have the best birthday ever."

Led Zeppelin guitarist Page was recently awarded an honorary doctorate by the university for his services to the music industry.

It also marked the fact Led Zeppelin first played under that name at a performance at the university's student union in October 1968.
